Cloud hosting is a model where you rent server resources in exactly the amount you need instead of fixed plans. You choose the processor, memory and disk with independent sliders, and the system runs on redundant cloud infrastructure. Since resources aren't tied to a single physical machine, scaling and continuity are far stronger.
How is it different from a VPS?
With a VPS you pick a ready-made plan and pay for it whether you use it or not. In the cloud you compose the resources yourself and pay by hourly usage. For projects with fluctuating traffic the cloud is clearly more economical; for steady loads, the predictable price of a VPS can remain attractive.
What is the difference between prepaid and pay-as-you-go?
