Frequently asked questions about .com.tr
Certificates, individual applications, prices, extension choice and domain management.
Do I need a company or trademark certificate for .com.tr?
The general .com.tr allocation process does not require a supporting certificate. Prohibited names cannot be registered; restricted names may have additional requirements. You must still supply the registrant information requested during the application.
Can an individual register a .com.tr domain?
The general process without supporting certificates also allows individual applications. The chosen name must be eligible and applicant details must be accurate. Check that your intended name will not conflict with another person's or organisation's rights.
What should I compare when buying a cheap .com.tr domain?
Review registration, renewal and transfer fees separately. A low first-year price may not apply to later renewals. For example, you can estimate three years of use by adding one year of registration to two years of renewal at current prices; this does not lock in future fees. Check the order total for your selected term, taxes and extra services.
What is the difference between .com.tr and .tr?
example.com.tr and example.tr are independent domains. A direct .tr address does not contain the com part. Registering one does not automatically give you rights to the other; availability and transaction requirements are assessed separately.
Should I choose .com or .com.tr?
A site for customers in Türkiye can use .com.tr, while a site serving several markets can use .com. If you register both, choose a primary address. You can redirect the other to the main site or use it separately for Türkiye-specific products, prices and service content.
Does .com.tr guarantee a top ranking in Google Türkiye?
No. The .tr country code can provide a geographic signal for Türkiye, but it does not guarantee rankings. Useful Turkish pages that answer the audience’s questions, crawlable content and a clear site structure are also needed.
How long can I register a .com.tr domain for?
TRABİS permits an allocation of at least one and no more than five years in one transaction. Review the term options available at checkout. Keep track of the expiry and renewal dates if you want to continue using the name.
Is a .com.tr domain available if it has no website?
Not necessarily. The name may be used for email, redirected or waiting for a website to launch. A page failing to load does not tell you whether the domain is registered. Check its availability through a domain search.
Does registering .com.tr automatically publish a website?
No. You need hosting or a site builder for your website and an email service for mailboxes. After registration, connect the domain to your chosen services and check the website and email DNS records separately.
Can I transfer an existing .com.tr domain?
You can use the .com.tr transfer process to change providers. Check the current .tr transaction requirements and your domain’s status with the existing and new providers; do not assume .com transfer rules apply in the same way. Website files, email mailboxes and DNS service need separate attention.
Is .com.tr a country-code top-level domain?
The country-code top-level domain is .tr. .com.tr is a structure beneath .tr; in a registration such as brand.com.tr, your chosen brand name sits at the third level. Having com in the name does not make it part of the standalone .com extension.
How many characters can my .com.tr name contain?
TRABİS rules allow 2–63 characters in the name before .com.tr. Letters a–z, digits 0–9 and hyphens are permitted. The name cannot start or end with a hyphen, and its third and fourth characters cannot both be hyphens. The .com.tr suffix is excluded from this length count.
Are TRABİS and a registrar the same thing?
No. TRABİS is the central .tr domain system operated by BTK. Registrars act as intermediaries for domain applications, allocation, renewal and cancellation. The .tr manager, the registration system and the provider serving you have different roles.
Does buying .com.tr automatically enable DNSSEC?
Buying a domain alone does not enable DNSSEC. DNSSEC uses digital signatures to help verify the origin and integrity of DNS responses. Activation requires compatible signing and chain-of-trust settings to be supported and configured across your DNS service and domain provider.
