.fr is France’s country-code domain. It can support products, local services and French-language customer support for France. Technical terms and transaction details
Are .fr and .eu eligibility rules identical?
No. .fr relies on residence in eligible territories for individuals and includes Switzerland. .eu also provides a citizenship route and uses its own territory list.
Why is availability insufficient?
Afnic can separately verify contactability and eligibility. Trademarks and other third-party rights still apply even where a name is available.

Can someone living in Türkiye register .fr?
Residence only in Türkiye does not satisfy Afnic’s individual residence requirement. A qualifying residence or organisational location in the EU, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Iceland is required according to applicant type.
Must I incorporate in France?
No. Afnic also accepts residents and organisations with a registered office or principal place of business in other eligible territories. Provide the actual details establishing eligibility.
Can a .fr name contain accents?
Yes, characters in Afnic’s list can be used as IDNs. This does not mean every Unicode character or every service provider is supported.
Is there a charge for the Auth_info code?
Afnic requires the current registrar to provide the Auth_info code free of charge or offer a way to obtain it. Get the code from your current provider for a transfer to DomainQ, and review domain status and steps with our team. Transfer-service and renewal tariffs are separate from the code being free.
Can every deleted .fr be restored?
No. Ordinary registrar-requested deletion has a 30-day redemption period, but court orders or failed eligibility checks can lead to immediate deletion.
How much does a .fr domain cost?
