What is .site?

.site is a generic extension that suggests a website. It can serve an event, portfolio or independent project. Its wording does not automatically include a website builder, design or hosting. Register your project’s name at DomainQ for an address independent of your publishing tool.

In yourbrand.site, yourbrand is your chosen name and .site is the top-level domain. DNS hierarchy proceeds from the root (.) to the extension and the name. This is an illustrative address, not an availability result.

.site registry and registration rules

Manage your .site order and account through DomainQ. Radix policies cover premium tiers, reserved names and abuse handling, and IANA identifies the current operator. Review your selected name’s conditions before registration.

Radix Technologies Inc. SEZC

This is the legal entity listed by IANA. Radix manages the extension’s registration policies and central registry.

When to use .site

Independent project

Give a research, design or community project its own address. If you want a lasting archive, use the project name rather than a temporary date.

Portfolio and work archive

Organise work on your own domain alongside social platforms. Project descriptions and contact details provide context beyond a page of images.

Campaign and event

Use a dedicated address for a launch or event. Plan whether it will remain as an archive, redirect or renewed site after the campaign.

Choose .site for the project’s expected lifetime

Search campaign and long-term project names at DomainQ, considering how you will use the address after the event ends.

Temporary or lasting?

An annual event can publish new editions under one address instead of buying a new domain every year. Plan how older links remain accessible.

.site, .online and .xyz

.site suggests a general website; .online emphasises online service, while .xyz allows a more open-ended identity. Read the complete name when deciding.

Keep the domain easy to repeat

Put long explanations in headings and content rather than in the domain. If your brand already contains site, check the full address for repetition.

Register and manage .site at DomainQ

Identify the actual domain owner and renewal term when you register .site at DomainQ. Connect to your publishing tool with free Premium Anycast DNS, and plan archiving or redirection after a campaign separately.

Naming and transaction rules

Premium names
Name-specific price tier

Registration, transfer, restoration and renewal charges may vary by tier. The standard table is not a quote for a premium name.

Renewal pricing
Premium status can affect renewals

Do not assume the name will renew at a standard rate based on its initial registration price; read its specific conditions.

Reserved names
Some labels are unavailable

Registry and ICANN rules reserve certain names. The absence of a working website does not establish availability for new registration.

Abuse rules
Registry policies apply

Phishing, malware and other prohibited uses can affect registration or the operation of the domain.

Transfer authorisation
Auth-Code / EPP code

Obtain the code from your current provider for a transfer to DomainQ. Transfer locks and eligibility need separate checks; this code does not move website files.

Before registering at DomainQ

Initial and ongoing costs

A low registration fee may fit a campaign budget, but record the renewal cost too. Premium names can differ from standard rates.

Website builder conditions

Check whether your builder requires a paid plan for a custom domain. .site registration alone does not provide a design template or publishing space.

Redirects after the project

Printed material and old social links can remain in circulation. Consider redirecting the address to a relevant lasting page after the campaign.

Rights and responsibility

Record the correct holder for a team or client domain. Availability does not grant permission to use another project’s or brand’s name.

How to register a domain with DomainQ

From choosing your name to managing DNS, keep your domain in one customer panel.

  1. Search for your name at DomainQ

Check your address for availability and compare alternative extension prices. Searching alone does not reserve the name.

  2. Complete registration in our panel

Review your registrant details, registration term and total price in your DomainQ customer panel. Keep your contact details current for renewal notifications.

  3. Connect with your included DNS

Manage web and email records with our included Premium Anycast DNS. If you are still building your site, try SiteQ free for 15 days; our team can help with setup questions.

Technical terms and transaction details

Does premium pricing apply only in the first year?

Radix policy allows price tiers to apply to different transactions, including renewals. Check the later-term price for your exact name.

Does DNSSEC support automatically protect my domain?

No. Registry support must be paired with signing at your authoritative DNS service and correct DS data at registration level. Ask the DomainQ team about domain-side steps to ensure compatibility with your DNS service. HTTPS setup remains a separate task.

Questions about .site at DomainQ

From choosing .site to registration and renewal: answers about your DomainQ service and the extension’s requirements.

How much does a .site domain cost?

The pricing section shows DomainQ’s standard .site registration, renewal and transfer fees separately. Check the selected term, taxes and the name’s pricing category in the order summary.

Does a cheap .site domain include a website?

Your .site registration at DomainQ includes a 15-day free trial of the AI SiteQ website builder so you can try preparing your project’s pages. Review your chosen package’s terms for ongoing publishing. Assess domain registration and renewal tariffs separately from the website service’s cost.

Is .site only for one-page websites?

No. Page count and features depend on software and hosting, not the extension. It can also serve multi-page projects.

Can .site make sense for a campaign?

Consider it when a separate, easy-to-share address is useful. A campaign directory on your existing site may also suffice; account for maintenance and renewal.

Do I need a new .site for each event year?

No. Create year-specific pages under the same domain. That can simplify management of old links and event archives.

Does .site provide free hosting?

DomainQ offers a 15-day free AI SiteQ website-builder trial with your .site registration. The trial does not mean ongoing free hosting; check the terms of the service you choose after the trial. Free Premium Anycast DNS is included in your domain service.

Why do premium .site names have separate prices?

Radix can place certain names in different price tiers. Read the exact name’s conditions because transaction prices, including renewal, can differ.

Can I let .site expire after a campaign?

Without renewal, continuity of the address and connected services is lost. First assess old links, email use and archive needs.

Can I keep the address when moving my portfolio?

Yes. Keep your .site registration at DomainQ and configure DNS records for a new platform that supports custom domains in your panel. Images, pages and old URL redirects need a separate move; plan the content migration even when the domain stays the same.

Does .site improve SEO?

.site alone does not generate search traffic. Useful project content and continuity of links matter. Creating many similar campaign domains does not automatically improve SEO.
